The sole known purpose of drones few year back was to spy the enemies and other people with malicious intent. Nowadays, drones have added a lot of commercial, scientific, business and recreational values through their advanced capabilities. That is why they are considered as one of the best tech advancements that could have a powerful impact on our future.

But wait, What is a Drone?

In layman terms, a drone is basically an “Unmanned Flying Vehicle”, which means either there is a pilot remotely controlling the drone from outside, or an on-board computer controlling it automatically. That’s why it is preferred for tasks that are too dull, dirty or dangerous for humans.

And why it is called a drone and not something else? Drone refers to something that makes a continuous humming sound.

In order fly a drone properly, you must get some hands-on experience so you don’t get into trouble. You need to make sure you don’t crash your drone into trees while you are shooting a nice video.

Here are 5 useful applications of drone in order to get most out of it:

1. Record and Capture Live Events

One of the coolest ways to use drones is to record live events such as concerts, family functions, sports events etc. From every possible angle including top view as well. You would have often noticed the small flying objects near the stage while watching a live event. That’s a drone. Size of the drone could be different for different purposes, and specifications also change. These professional camera equipped drones help in recording the entire event from different angles, which are hard to achieve from cable cameras, which would just move along a straight cable. But these drones have the capability to move in any direction and even stay stable, when required. In my country, drones are used to record complete wedding ceremony, to get those memorable shots for family and friends.

2. Shooting Movies and Advertisements

Nowadays, most of the action and sci-fi movies require lots of aerial shots, which means there has to be some device that could go in the air and shoot as per directions. Earlier, this could be achieved via a cameraman on a helicopter, which turned out to be a bit expensive and quite inconvenient. But now with drone technology, same effect is achieved easily and without much hassle.

3. Home delivery of small items

It is one of the most interesting ways to use drones effectively. Many big businesses are testing the delivery of small goods to their customers via drones which could save time and cost. Few months back, one of the leading Pizza chains i.e. Domino’s also successfully completed testing of pizza delivery through drones to customer’s home in order to make their delivery faster, so that pizza still stays hot and customers don’t need to wait for long.

4. Managing Law and order

Drones could be of great help for a country to guard their citizens. It could be used to identify criminal locations and drones used by police can also open fire if needed. Many countries, especially US have adopted this technology to maintain law and order in their country, and are getting good results out of it.

5. Covering news or Surveying dangerous areas

Drones are of great relief while covering news or surveying areas, which are dangerous or inaccessible for normal human. These drones can go to such places and provide footage of actual conditions there without having them to visit it for survey.

Even during an emergency, these drones could provide accurate idea of the actual conditions of the place, and help media report it accurately.

There are actually unlimited uses to this technology, and organizations are coming up with new ideas every now and then to increase the productivity of their business through these flying machines. These are just few cool ways I have listed to get the best out of these gadgets. And for more ideas, I would love to hear from you through the comments section below. How about a Drone Racing Competition with friends? And the possibilities are endless. Let me know about your experience with drones too.
