FYI, Henry Cavill Is Not Doing Movies Just 'For The Art'

"The money’s fantastic and that’s something which I deem ... very important."

Looks like Superman just became a bit of a villain.

Actor Henry Cavill decided to get really candid with Man of the World magazine and reveal that unlike some in Hollywood, he's really in movies for the money.

"I'm slightly wary of saying this, because it can be frowned upon, certainly by members of my community and people outside my community," Cavill, 32, said, before continuing his train of thought anyway. "But I'm not just doing this for the art. The money's fantastic and that's something which I deem -- and again, it is frowned upon -- very important."

That's right -- the absurdly good-looking man who had the good fortune of success as an actor, is currently the face of a franchise and dates a 19-year-old just wanted to point out that he's really in it for the "fantastic" dough. But Cavill didn't stop there.

"When I'm making money, I'm spending it on nice stuff," the Man of Steel revealed. "Whether that be lavish holidays for me and my friends or just seeing something and going in a shop and saying, 'Yeah, I want that for the house, I'm buying it.'"

And when it comes to flying, it's first class or nothing for the movie star. Given that he is over six feet tall, this time his comments are more understandable.

"People will be calling me a cock as they're reading this, but travel's great as long as you're going first class. I mean, traveling to New Zealand in economy, it sucks," Cavill said. "Especially if you're over six feet. But first class? I'm not going to ever pretend to be coy about that. I love it."

While honest, Cavill's comments come off as just a little icky. Is it really necessary for readers to know that he (like the rest of us) really loves the money he makes from his job? We probably could've just insinuated as much.

But Cavill isn't necessarily saying anything new, as more than a few actors have copped to taking certain roles for money.

When esteemed actor and Oscar winner Sir Michael Caine did "Jaws: The Revenge," he famously said "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific."
