Just looking out the window I can tell you winter is on its way. I put away my summer dresses and have my jeans and light blouses out in regular rotation. Once November hits, I will be living in my boots and sweaters. I have a pair of steel toe boots, and I am often asked how to keep feet warm in steel toe boots in winter. These are some of the best ways I have come up with.

Heavy Wool Socks

The best way to keep your feet warm during the winter time is to have a pair of heavy wool socks. This is especially true for steel toe boots. If your boots are a half size too big, then you already know that there is more than enough room for wool socks. What I do is I wear a pair of regular cotton socks, and then over them are my wool socks. My feet are not itchy, and they stay nice and warm.

Thermal Socks

I have a pair of Thinsulate thermal socks that keep my feet nice and warm. I had a pair of steel toe boots previously that were in my size. I did not know that they were supposed to be ordered a half size up, so I had to figure out how to keep my feet warm quickly. I then purchased a pair of Thinsulate thermal socks and wore them all winter. My feet stayed warm and dry all winter. They were a great investment that I still wear today.

Foot Warmers

On those super cold days in January, I always have foot warmers on hand. My favorite ones are the ones you can put in the microwave for a minute or two, and then you just place them in your shoe. Make sure you have a pair of socks in between your foot and the foot warmers so your foot does not blister or burn. There are many brands of these foot warmers out there, so be sure to read up on them prior to purchasing.

Wraps

When the thick wool socks are in the wash, and my Thinsulate thermal socks are nowhere to be found, I wrap my foot up in bandages. Everyone has ace wraps in their house or first aid kit, so they should be readily available. Just wrap your foot from toe to ankle and then cover in a pair of cotton socks. It provides another layer between sock, steel toe and foot. Do not worry, other people do it too.

Double Up the Socks

This is my final bit of advice for how to keep feet warm in steel toe boots in winter. Just wear two pairs of socks instead of one. They can be regular cotton socks, or a pair of nylon and a pair of cotton socks. Whatever kind of socks you own. I am a person who usually wear a lot of fun socks, so I sometimes wear my toe socks as my first layer, and regular white cotton socks for my second layer. I like to think that each individually wrapped toe is kept warmer, but that could just be me.

These are my five ways on how to keep feet warm in steel toe boots in winter. How do you keep your feet warm in steel toe boots in winter? Probably the same five ways, right? Keep an eye out for feet warmers in your stores now since it is high school football season.
