Justin Bieber Cancels Meet And Greets Because They Leave Him Depressed

Justin Bieber announced on Tuesday that he'll be canceling his Purpose World Tour meet and greets, one of which sold for a whopping $2,000. He did say sorry, though.

According to a post on his Instagram page, The Biebs said the meet and greets often leave him "feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy."

"Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense," he added. "And I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression."

The Huffington Post has reached out to Bieber's management.

The singer's team reportedly canceled a specific meet and greet package -- the $925 "I'll Show You VIP Package" -- because of an earlier "security incident that caused our team to have to meet and re-think" the meetings. The crew is now seemingly offering a "VIP hangout" instead, which allows fans to take photos and videos of Bieber, but no group pic.

The team is also apparently offering refunds for the package, but there's a catch. According to this answer screen capped by JustinBieberCrew.com on Twitter, in order to get the money back, fans also have to forfeit their ticket to the show; there are no partial refunds.

Bkstg, the company that sponsors the meet and greets, also shared the following note:

Naturally, a lot of people think it's too late to say sorry, now.

Other Beliebers maintain that his health is more important than a photo with fans -- a very valid argument, as depression and mental health are serious issues that shouldn't be taken lightly.

The Biebs has spoken out about posing with fans in the past, too, so we can't say this decision comes totally out of nowhere. Last year, the singer posted a Snapchat video laying out some photo-taking guidelines for his fans.

And as he's said himself (ironically, in "I'll Show You"): "This life's not easy / I'm not made out of steel / Don't forget that I'm human / Don't forget that I'm real."
