It's not easy being Greene.
(Warning! Major spoilers!)
On "The Walking Dead," Maggie Greene (Lauren Cohan) has been through about as much as anyone. In the latest episode "The Same Boat," we learned she and Carol were definitely captured by the Saviors. Then, after some quick thinking and MacGyver-like traps, including Carol lighting a room full of Saviors on fire, the pair ends up killing their captors and escaping. This just adds to all the close calls Maggie has had this season, including her husband Glenn's multiple near-death incidents.
In Sunday's episode, Rick kills a dude who claims to be Negan, but from casting news we know that's not actually him. (The real Negan is being played by "The Good Wife" actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan.)
Leaked footage and comments from the actors and showrunners basically confirm that at least one major character is likely dying this season, thanks to Negan and his trademark baseball bat. The show also appears to be giving small clues that things are getting even tougher for Ms. Greene:
There's evidence Maggie will die in Season 6.
So far the Internet has been dead set on Negan using his bat on Glenn (like he does in the comic), but with every episode it seems there are more and more reasons why Maggie will be the one getting the, you know, short end of the stick:
1. "The Walking Dead" is teasing Glenn's death waaay too much.

In addition to the big Glenn death fake-out from the first half of the season, the former pizza delivery boy recently found a bunch of pictures of people who appeared to have their heads bashed in. This is exactly how he dies in the comics at the hands of Negan. In other words, "The Walking Dead" is trying really hard to tell us it's the end for Glenn.
It's like, "Just chill, y'all. We get it."
"The Walking Dead" is anything but predictable. At this point, Glenn's death has been teased almost too much to actually happen.
2. Things are going too well for Maggie.
Yeah, Maggie is having a rough time this season, but it's the apocalypse. No one's doing that great. All things considered, it's going a little too well for Maggie.
She just escaped mostly unscathed from the Saviors; she's pregnant; Rick is giving her leadership responsibilities, such as meeting with Hilltop leader Gregory; and they just so happen to save the life of an OB/GYN who lives at Hilltop and gives her an ultrasound.
An OB/GYN? Really?
3. Lauren Cohan has a drastic new look and schedule.
Cohan's haircut and the fact that she's taking on more new projects seem to indicate there's been some kind of change in the actress' schedule.
Before this year, Cohan's other projects outside the show included mostly voice acting work and some TV appearances. Now she's taking on more movie roles, including playing Martha Wayne in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." And supposedly Mr. Wayne is being portrayed by none other than Negan actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan. (Whaaaaaaat???)
4. Something tragic is likely happening to Maggie in the season finale.
The actress told Comicbook.com that the Season 6 finale was her hardest time ever on set.
“[Hearing] the word ‘finale’ gives me a physical reaction because it’s the hardest day on set that I’ve ever had in my life,” says Cohan. “I never even imagined that as an actor you could have that experience. It’s one of the most raw experiences that I think any of us have ever had. Andy talks about being late to work; I didn’t want to go to work that day. It took a really, really long time for everybody to feel okay again after the finale, let’s put it that way.”
In conclusion, it's time to start worrying about Maggie.
Could Glenn's death scene be what gave Cohan such a hard time in the finale? Sure. Totally. However, the show has been known to switch up death scenes from the comics, so it's not looking great for Maggie.
Still, this isn't a done deal.
Speaking to The Huffington Post at the 92nd Street Y, showrunner Scott Gimple said as a "public service announcement" that just because the show has "invoked the name" Negan, "it doesn't mean we’re gonna see him tomorrow." The showrunner said there's a lot of story left to tell.
But could there be a little less to tell about Maggie?
