Little Sydney Lives Photography Comp Will Give You Major Childhood Nostalgia

These Kids' Depictions Of Sydney Will Give You Major Childhood Nostalgia

Playing on a swing, dad mowing the lawn and a soft toy at the beach are among 20 images selected as finalists in the 2015 Little Sydney Lives photography exhibition competition.

Dozens of bright, budding photographers aged 3-11 from the western suburbs to the north shore, the inner west to the eastern suburbs submitted images of Sydney life from their perspective -- from which 20 have been selected as finalists for the City of Sydney’s Art & About Festival.

The young finalists will have their images blown up and exhibited in Sandringham Gardens in Hyde Park from 18 September to 11 October -- while going in the running to win $1,000 in prizes -- Christmas really has come early for some!

“For the last five years we’ve asked young photographers to send us their best shots of what Sydney life means to them,” Lord Mayor Clover Moore said.

“The creativity of these images from our youngest residents each year amazes and entertains Sydneysiders and visitors of all ages.”

Moore said the festival is about using the city’s streets and spaces as an opportunity for artists to showcase their colour and creativity and inspire everyone around them.

Judges of Little Sydney Lives are award-winning photographer Tamara Dean, curator and exhibition programmer, Mark Feary, and interior designer, author and lifestyle blogger, Jason Grant.

The winners in each of the 3–7 and 8–11 years categories will be announced on Thursday 17 September.
