Beau Ryan reportedly off The Footy Show after alleged affair with Lauren Brant

Updated

It's been eight years since the world was aghast at news that a footy player had cheated on his missus.

Back then, it was married AFL star Brendan Fevola and a 19-year-old Lara Bingle, freshly famous as the face of the controversial "Where the bloody hell are you" Tourism Australia campaign.

Now, former Hi-5'er Lauren Brant is to NRL what Bingle is to AFL.

NRL favourite Beau Ryan is said to have stood down from his popular role on The Footy Show following reports of an affair with Brant.

"Beau and his family are on holiday spending much needed time together and we have no comment to make on their personal life," a spokesperson for Channel Nine told Fairfax Media.

The news comes after allegations of an affair made by Brant's former fiance, Gold Coast personal trainer Warren Riley.

In Monday's issue of Woman's Day, Riley said that the affair took place earlier this year while Ryan and Brant performed together in a Sydney production of Aladdin and his Wondrous Lamp.

He learned of the affair after she confessed on a recent trip to New Zealand.

Riley claims the I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here star was acting strangely so he checked her phone and found text messages between Brant and a friend confirming the affair.

He says he pressed his 26-year-old wife-to-be and she admitted that she and Ryan had slept together multiple times in July.

"It's kind of a punch in the stomach. I felt completely sick and didn't know what to do," he told Woman's Day.

"She owned up to everything. She said she'd slept with him [Ryan] on two occasions in her hotel after rehearsals."

Riley added: "She said after they'd taken the photos they were still kind of staying pretty close to each other and then they started making out."

The following week they allegedly returned to Brant's hotel room after drinks and the liaison escalated.

Brant reportedly told Riley that it "meant nothing" and begged for forgiveness.

"She said she was planning on telling me after our New Zealand trip," said a devastated Riley, who told the magazine they were planning to marry in September next year. "We were supposed to be together forever. She was just about to become my wife."

Ryan, 30, and his wife of three years, childhood sweetheart Kara Orrell, along with their two-year-old daughter Remi, have gone on holiday to reportedly rebuild their relationship and wait for the tide to blow over.

Neither Ryan nor Brant have commented on the allegations in public.

Meanwhile, Brant has posted a shot of herself looking carefree on a beach in the Gold Coast.

"Who said Monday's [sic] have to be dreaded," wrote the entertainer, who has now made her Instagram account private.

It might have been a sunny start to the day, but it looks like the weather is changing now the news has emerged and the trolls commenting on the shot accusing her of being a "home-wrecker" have begun.
