Federal parliament has increasingly become a showcase for the fine art of the zinger. With varying degrees of effect.
Labor leader Bill Shorten's patented zings have been a source of groans through the chamber and shadow treasurer Chris Bowen seems to have taken inspiration from his boss with a cringeworthy attempt at TV-related humour in the House.
Bowen compared the Abbott Government to The Bachelor, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, Wheel of Fortune, Family Feud and more, seemingly impervious to the eye-rolls he drew from the chamber.
"If the Abbott government was a game show, what game show would they be? With all the backgrounding each other, the leaks, the dysfunction, it could be the Family Feud," Bowen said.
"There's all this speculation about whether the Treasurer will be asked to leave or stay, whether he'll get a rose from the Prime Minister or not, maybe it's The Bachelor."
(It also forced us to mentally picture this harrowing image)
"Look at how the government always keen to give tax breaks to high income earners and tax more low income earners, maybe even Wheel of Fortune or maybe even better Who Wants To Be A Millionaire."
Bowen's colleagues were rolling in the aisles, clutching their sides with laughter at each carefully dropped lulz-bomb.
"If you look at the entire cabinet, perhaps Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader," Bowen continued.
"I think the winner is a few shows around a few years ago... it was called The Weakest Link. We know who the weakest link in the government... it's the treasurer of Australia."
But rather than being embarrassed by his catalogue of Dad-jokes, Bowen went and put it on social media for the world to see.
