John Oliver has roasted Tony Abbott on the Emmy Awards red carpet, announcing "ding dong, Tony is dead".
Speaking to entertainment reporter Angela Bishop, the U.K. comedian compared the former prime minister to risky drug taking.
"I don't know what the point of Tony Abbott was but it was fun while it lasted," Oliver said.
"It was like taking heroin -- it was incredibly exhilarating and it was right that you stopped."
He also described last month's bungled Border Farce attempt to do Visa checks on the streets of Melbourne as "that crazy border security thing -- Border Force the Aussie Stasi".
He thanked Australia for providing all of his best material and gave a hot tip that he didn't think Donald Trump would be successful in his presidential campaign.
It's not the first time Oliver has grilled Abbott, with this June segment getting more than three million views on YouTube alone.
As for Malcolm Turnbull or the reporter's recently demoted former speaker mother Bronwyn Bishop? They got off scott free this time but he said he'd keep watching our seemingly fertile comedic grounds because his little sister lives here.
