Liberal Leadership Spill Mashed-Up With House Of Cards

Someone Finally Mashed Up Malcolm Turnbull With House Of Cards

We've all been joking about it and laughing about it and saying, "hey did you realise Australian politics is TOTALLY like House of Cards right now?". Now some creative genius has finally come along and inserted the Liberal leadership saga into the Netflix political drama.

The similarities have been pointed out across the country, with many joking Malcolm Turnbull and Julie Bishop are the Aussie equivalents of Frank and Clare Underwood. The House of Cards social media guy even got in on the joke.

But it has taken prolific video editor Ace Alderman to finally make it happen. The video producer has become something of an #Auspol darling as of late, with mash-ups of Aussie politics with pop culture -- think Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Arrested Development colliding with Kevin Rudd, Tony Abbott and Bronwyn Bishop -- lighting up the internet.

The House of Cards mash-up may be the most fitting, however. In the video, some of the most iconic moments of the political drama are co-opted to tell the story of the Liberal leadership spill; from the show's famous opening credits scene transformed to show the sights of Canberra, to Turnbull literally killing Abbott by carbon monoxide poisoning.

Now, can the House of Cards jokes finally stop?
