Lichen from Soda Honey Films on Vimeo.
We're all fairly curious about how to find love, most of us believing it's fate, small incidents of chance that lead us to our 'soul-mates'.
Some of us are a little more cynical.
In this film, Lichen, the more romantic idea of fate is explored.
From a chance encounter as students to the small decisions made that lead to their official meeting.
Not a word is spoken in this film, but there's plenty of symbolism and you may need to watch it a couple of times to spot every element that tells the story.
Symbolism exists even in the films' title, Lichen, which is a composite organism (read: mould) that's combined life form varies significantly from each individual organisms original form -- suggesting the coming together of two people and the very different life they create.
Some of the other symbolism draws this couple together, some is just there to appreciate the beauty of life.
It's quirky, it's heartfelt and it's a really great Aussie film.
