Police are searching for a man who dressed up as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and stole a BMW motorcycle from a car dealership in Melbourne's Doncaster.
The thief, wearing a face mask of character Leonardo, was pictured driving a stolen van to the dealership on Doncaster Road, before breaking in and stealing a BMW S1000XR motorcycle, valued at around $20,000.
As he was leaving the dealership, he rammed the gates with the van, which he then set alight, before taking off on the bike.
Perhaps the offender -- estimated to be aged from late teens to mid-30s -- didn't get up to scratch on his pop culture before choosing his outfit. Leonardo is the sewer-dwelling "hero in a halfshell", the leader of his fraternal pack. To channel the true villain, he should have dressed in a samurai outfit as the chief antagonist, Shredder. Better defensive weapons, too.
In a press release entitled "Cowabunga", Victoria Police appealed for anyone with information about the September 7 theft to contact CrimeStoppers.
