Woman fatally stabbed, man arrested in Townsville
Police are investigating another fatal domestic violence incident after a woman was stabbed and her former partner was arrested in north Queensland.
Police were called to a unit in the Townsville suburb of Idalia at about 11pm Saturday night where they found a 32-year-old woman with several stab wounds.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman's 36-year-old former partner was arrested and taken to Townsville Hospital with cuts to his arms.
Charges are yet to be laid.
It is the latest in a string of domestic violence related deaths in Queensland this month.
Two women and a child were killed in separate incidents earlier this month in the state's south-east.
The Queensland Government has introduced the first of new laws to Parliament to tackle the issue, and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced a $100 million dollar Federal package last week to combat what he has called the "national disgrace" of domestic violence.
