Two People Watch Star Wars For The First Time

Two People Watch Star Wars For The First Time

Star Wars is a global pop culture phenomenon and I am a part of its original generation of die-hard fans. Like many people my age, I have brought up my children to love it as much as I did as a child.

I can't wait to share their joy as the newest installment of the ongoing saga hits cinemas in December.

But sandwiched between my generation and that of my children is a group of adults who think of Star Wars as a remnant from of a bygone era. For them it's little more than the source of countless parodies and internet memes.

With this is mind, I invited two colleagues to a viewing of the original Star Wars (otherwise known as 'Episode IV: A New Hope').

Neither had any particular inclination to ever see the movie, but a guaranteed supply of snacks and wine helped convince them to put aside a couple of hours at the end of a work day and take on this assignment.

And so it was that Emily and Cayla were transported to a galaxy far, far away, to a world of men, robots... and more men.

Their reactions give a fresh perspective on the beloved 1977 sci-fi classic that is not often discussed amidst the hype and hyperbole surrounding the beloved franchise.
