We'll be back next week, blogging both semi-finals! Australia beat Scotland 35-34 in a thriller!

Semi final one: New Zealand v South Africa

Semi final two: Australia v Argentina

Bring on the Rugby Championships.

That's all from the blog tonight. Australia advance to the semi-finals, but only just after Bernard Foley booted a 79th minute penalty for the win. The Wallabies scored five tries to three, and it was far from perfect. But they live to fight another day!

It's the four Rugby Championship teams left in the competition. No northern hemisphere semi-finalists for the first time in World Cup history.

FULL-TIME:

It will be New Zealand v South Africa on Saturday and Australia v Argentina on Sunday.

FULL-TIME: Joubert should have checked that last one, it's cost Scotland the game. And replays show that Phipps was the last one to touch it. I think we'll be hearing about this one for a little while!

FULL-TIME: Craig Joubert's performance as referee should come under scrutiny, he might have cost himself a spot in the semi-final. He sent Scotland winger Sean Maitland to the sin bin for a deliberate knockdown, but that was incredibly harsh. He then failed to give Australia a penalty for a Scotland offside, which led to a Foley mistake and a Scotland try. Then at the death, the same situation, Joubert decides to penalise Scotland and Foley boots the winner! Greig Laidlaw, Scotland captain is filthy. He says why didn't Joubert send it to the TMO?

FULL-TIME: You wouldn't believe it if you saw it with your own eyes. That was edge of the seat stuff. I think it's fair to say the Wallabies were well off their game today. Foley didn't bring his kicking boots. But when it mattered most, he stepped up for the penalty shot. And he put it straight through the middle of the posts for a one-point win.
