Jarryd Hayne will remain in San Francisco but has been unceremoniously bumped back to the 49ers' practice squad.

Hayne was Tuesday ignored by 31 other NFL teams after he was placed on the waiver list by the 49ers but soon after Hayne tweeted he had been retained by the team that was seemingly willing to let him go. The 49ers confirmed the news on their official website.

Hayne was released from the 49ers squad before Monday's game, placed on the "waiver" list by the team, which meant any other team in the NFL had a chance to nab his signature. However, despite reported interest from the Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks, Hayne's name was not on the radar for other team by the waiver deadline.

Matt Maiocco, a veteran 49ers reporter for CSN Bay Area, said Hayne would probably stay in San Fran.

Hayne's case to stay in the Bay Area was strengthened by injuries to key players in his positions of running back and punt returner. As we reported yesterday, two injuries to players ahead of Hayne on the depth chart has meant Hayne instantly went from "dropped from the squad" to "second in line" in the running back position, and is seemingly the only healthy option at punt returner.

The guy who was promoted to the main team at the expense of Hayne, Kendall Gaskins, notched just six yards rushing from five attempts in another dismal loss for the 49ers in yesterday's 27-6 loss.

Despite the initial cloud over his NFL future, Hayne's manager Wayne Beavis said the former NRL star is committed to American football.

"There's no chance of him coming back [to the NRL], none at all," Beavis said.

"He is 100 percent committed to what he is doing over there."
