Carrie Bickmore Announces Brain Cancer Charity Concert With Ed Sheeran, Vance Joy, Rudimental

Carrie Bickmore's Logies acceptance speech went viral in May, after The Project host used the podium to shine the spotlight on brain cancer.

Bickmore told the crowd, and millions who later saw the speech on TV or online, how her husband passed away from the cancer in 2010, donning a beanie to bring awareness to the "beanies for brain cancer" campaign.

She has since become a figurehead for the cancer, and on Monday evening on The Project, shared details of a huge concert in Melbourne next month to raise more awareness and funds for brain cancer.

The Brainbeats concert will see global megastars Ed Sheeran and Rudimental joined by a stellar Australian cast including Vance Joy and Bliss N Eso in a massive concert at Margaret Court Arena in Melbourne on December 6.

It will be the launch event for Bickmore's new charity Carrie's Beanies 4 Brain Cancer. She has set herself the goal of raising $1 million for research into the condition.

"Brain cancer survival rates have barely changed in 30 years," Bickmore said in a launch video played on The Project.

"One Australian is diagnosed every five hours. One Australian dies every seven hours... and it kills more kids than any other disease.

"It receives less than 5 percent of all government cancer research funding. That's not good enough."
