Malcolm Turnbull might not recognise Australia's Test cricket vice-captain, but he certainly recognises one of our most beloved political reporters.

Turnbull turned his head towards the flashing lights of the media scrum in Parliament House on Wednesday with that classic "being-asked-more-annoying-questions-by-journalists" look.

But indifference quickly turned to surprise, then delight, when he was greeted by the veteran political editor for the Nine Network.

Turnbull recently bumped into Aussie cricket star David Warner in a cafe in Adelaide, but clearly had no idea who he was -- quickly brushing him off and moving on with his day.

Speaking of Parliament House greetings, Turnbull's reaction to Oakes was much warmer than when Penny Wong ran into Joe Hockey in August
