Police have arrested former AFL agent Ricky Nixon over alleged offensive posts on social media.
The 52-year-old was picked up by police in Port Melbourne on Wednesday.
Cathy Carrigan told the Herald Sun she was “disgusted” to see Nixon last Friday had allegedly posted a photo of her granddaughter, aged 2, with the comment: “Next f---”.
Nixon's arrest comes after he was in the spotlight over his tell-all biography entitled Ricky Nixon: My Side, which includes details of his relationship with Kim Duthie, who at the time was a school girl.
Ms Duthie, now 22, obtained a temporary injunction from the Victorian supreme court last week to prevent the book's publication. She claimed some of the book’s contents lied about and defamed her.
Last Friday, Justice David Beach ordered that while Nixon could not publish anything online or electronically about Ms Duthie until mid next year, he could publish the hard copy version immediately.
Nixon gave an impromptu press conference on the steps of the court after the decision. Here are some of his comments:
"The book will go to print this afternoon... I need to get my message out there on so that we can move on... my side of the story I suppose."
"The book is holistic, a lot of people wanted to still know about the rise as well as the fall. So it's about the big deals I've done in AFL. I've managed the biggest stars in the game... it will surprise a lot of people, the AFL side of it, how I created sports management of AFL players in Australia."
"Yep, the train hit the side of the mountain so to speak, but it's also about helping people with the mental illnesses that I've had to deal, with so to speak."
"I confess to having a major addiction to a drug in the book and I believe I've fought my way back to make my two sons proud of me and I will continue to do that for the rest of my life."
"I've got a new football business that's thriving and an online sports business, my football videos are pretty popular at the moment, I've had more views than The Footy Show lately. You know, I'm very very optimistic at the moment.
"When I walk up the footpath I'm going towards tomorrow, I'm not going to yesterday ever again."
