A man has died after consuming an illicit drug at the Stereosonic festival in Adelaide on Saturday, only one week after the death of Sylvia Choiat the Sydney event.

South Australian police were advised a man was receiving treatment from paramedics before 5pm at the music festival at Bonython Park in Adelaide.

The man taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital where he later died, and an initial police investigation determined he had consumed an illicit drug and was also in possession of a number of pills.

Stereosonic's official Facebook page confirmed the death and said it was "devastated to hear of another loss to drugs."
