If the line to get into Star Wars was as long as the line to give blood, there wouldn't be a 10,000 deficit in donations, so the Australian Red Cross Blood Service has a nifty way of luring in fans.

No, they're not using the force. They're using the fans by letting them know Luke, Han, Finn, Leia, Rey, Anakin and Obi all Australian blood donors.

Among the Blood Service's national donors are:

75,000 Lukes

96 Hans

74 Finns

42 Leias

18 Reys

1 Anakin; and

1 Obi

The Blood Service said they also had a total of 10 people with surnames Solo and Vader.

There are no Chewies. Sorry Chewbacca.

The Blood Service needs extra donations because appointments dwindle between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve but it's also a time when blood is in high demand.

Make an appointment to give blood by calling 13 14 95 or visiting Donate Blood.
