Friday marked triple j’s first ‘Like A Version’ of 2016 and with Sarah Blasko covering the late David Bowie’s ‘Life On Mars’ it was bound to be a heartfelt one.
The Australian singer-songwriter chatted with Matt and Alex before her performance, expressing perfectly, the sadness in which basically every music lover in the world would be feeling right now over the loss.
“Not only was he this enigmatic guy that played all these different roles but he also came across as this very real, very humble honest guy -- and that’s why you sort of felt you knew him somehow,” Blasko said.
The almost five minute performance left hosts and listeners incredibly moved with people taking to Twitter to express their thanks to the special tribute.
The legendary artist and visionary lost his 18-month battle with cancer on Sunday aged 69, just days after releasing his 25th studio album, Black Star.
