Justin Bieber hashtag used for IS propaganda

Islamic State has hijacked the Justin Bieber hashtag on Twitter and used it to release a graphic propaganda video.

The posting occurred early on Friday, with links also carrying the hashtags of ISIS and ISIL, alternative names for IS.

The pop star has almost 74 million Twitter followers.

The professionally produced 15-minute video includes the filming of the execution of four men who are shot in the back of the head at close range as they kneel on the ground with their hands bound.

The release comes after a warning from Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull this week that the online campaign against IS must be considerably improved.
