Some of music’s finest will take the Staples Center stage during the 58th annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles on Monday night. From tributes and duets to the obligatory Taylor Swift dance shot, the evening will be chock-full of live performances and undoubtedly, a few surprises.
Here’s what’s in store:
Presenters Will Come From Music, TV And Late-Night Worlds
This year’s presenters include Stephen Colbert, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, Ice Cube, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Anna Kendrick, Seth MacFarlane, Ryan Seacrest, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Common, James Corden, Cam and Kaley Cuoco.
We're excited for Gomez and Grande's hot red carpet looks, and maybe just maybe there will be some impromptu singing from the likes of Sheeran or Smith.
LL Cool J Will Host The Ceremony ... Again
The two-time Grammy winner will host the awards show for the fifth consecutive year. Yep, you read that right -- five years in a row.
"I'm honored once again to host Music's Biggest Night as we celebrate the talented music creators of today," he said in a press release. "It's going to be an incredible night and I'm excited to share this experience with the world."
We love LL Cool J and all, but maybe -- just maybe -- the Recording Academy will shake things up next year by introducing a new emcee.
We Will Closely Watch This Year’s Top Nominees
Kendrick Lamar leads this year’s nominations with 11 nods, followed by Swift and The Weeknd, who trail behind with seven nominations each.
A lot of eyes will be on the Album of the Year category, which sees Kendrick Lamar's “To Pimp a Butterfly,” Taylor Swift's “1989,” The Weeknd's “Beauty Behind the Madness,” Alabama Shakes' “Sound & Color” and Chris Stapleton's “Traveller” in the running for the top prize.
This Year’s Performers Are Top-Notch
Swift, Lamar, Adele, Alabama Shakes, Joey Alexander, Little Big Town, Miguel, Rihanna and The Weeknd are among the scheduled performers. Also, the cast of Broadway’s "Hamilton" will go live from New York’s Richard Rodgers Theater during the broadcast.
And there will be plenty of fun pairings: James Bay and Tori Kelly; Justin Bieber and Jack Ü (Diplo and Skrillex); Andra Day and Ellie Goulding; Sam Hunt and Carrie Underwood; and Pitbull, Travis Barker and Robin Thicke.
Get Ready For A Lot Of Tributes
Chris Stapleton, Gary Clark Jr. and Bonnie Raitt will pay tribute to the late B.B. King; Lady Gaga will honor David Bowie with a highly anticipated performance; The Eagles (Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, Timothy B. Schmit, and Joe Walsh) with Jackson Browne will remember Glenn Frey; and the supergroup Hollywood Vampires, featuring Alice Cooper, Johnny Depp and Joe Perry, will honor the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motörhead.
Miguel will take on Michael Jackson's "She's Out of My Life" to commemorate the upcoming reissue of “Off the Wall” and its Spike Lee documentary.
Luke Bryan, John Legend, Tyrese, Demi Lovato and Meghan Trainor will recognize this year’s MusiCares recipient, Lionel Richie.
Grammys 2016 Will Celebrate Lifetime Achievements
The 2016 Lifetime Achievement Awards will go to Run-DMC, Ruth Brown, Celia Cruz, Herbie Hancock, Linda Ronstadt, Jefferson Airplane and Earth, Wind & Fire.
Run-DMC is the first rap act to receive a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
Gwen Stefani Gets In On The Action
Target will unveil what it's calling “the first music video ever created on live television,” featuring Gwen Stefani. The performance is set to take place on Monday in LA as part of a four-minute commercial/music video.
