George Clooney has accused Hello! Magazine of publishing a fabricated interview with him, after they printed supposedly exclusive quotes about his relationship with his wife, Amal Clooney.

He has insisted that no such interview took place, and the magazine have since taken the article down from their website.

George said in a statement: “Hello! Magazine has printed an 'exclusive interview' with me that has been widely picked up and reprinted… The problem is that I have not given an interview to Hello! Magazine and the quotes attributed to me are not accurate.

"In my experience, being misquoted is not unusual but to have an 'exclusive interview' completely fabricated is something new. And a very disturbing trend."

Responding to the accusations from George, Hello! have explained that they purchased the quotes from an agency, believing them to be authentic.

The supposed quotes in question suggested that he’d spoken about juggling his busy schedule with Amal’s, saying: “It takes some planning, but it's actually been working out very well for us. She also looks great on the red carpet!”

This isn’t the first time that George, whose father is American broadcaster and journalist Nick Clooney, has hit out at a media outlet for inaccurate reporting, previously hitting out at the Daily Mail in 2014, for publishing a false story about his then-fiancée, Amal, which suggested that her mother was against their relationship for cultural and religious reasons.
