Drew Barrymore is calling it quits with her husband, Will Kopelman, after nearly four years of marriage.

The pair confirmed their split with a joint statement to People.

"Sadly our family is separating legally, although we do not feel this takes away from us being a family. Divorce might make one feel like a failure, but eventually you start to find grace in the idea that life goes on," they said. "Our children are our universe, and we look forward to living the rest of our lives with them as the first priority."

The couple, who began dating in February 2011 and wed in June 2012, have two daughters together -- Olive, 3, and Frankie, who turns 2 later this month.

Barrymore was previously married to Los Angeles bar owner Jeremy Thomas, whom she divorced after less than two months of marriage. She also had a highly publicized relationship with actor Tom Green, but they split after six months of marriage in 2001.

The actress recently opened up about marriage and compromise to Us Weekly. "We know each other very well and know what our likes and dislikes are and what works and doesn't work," Barrymore said of Kopelman. "Small things like rushing to the airport can be some else's nightmare and we have to change for the better to grow as a couple."
