When the West Indies came to Australia to play three Tests over summer, they looked substandard and often disinterested. Marlon Samuels was the worst culprit. The veteran batsman made no runs, stood in the field with his hands in his pockets and looked about as happy as a husband at the post-Christmas sales.

Shane Warne, who had previously clashed with Samuels on field, had a go at him. But overnight, Samuels struck back. First he steered the West Indies to the World T20 title with an assured innings of 85 that held the innings together. And then he absolutely slammed Warne,

"I played a Test series in Australia and every day, Shane Warne has a problem with me," Samuels said. "I don't know. Maybe because my face is real and his face is not?"

Ouch, ouch and triple ouch.

The spat didn't halt the celebrations. Jamaican sprint legend Usain Bolt filmed his own tribute in song, which though lacking in sophisticated lyrics, was made up for in enthusiasm.

Meanwhile the headliner of the World T20 final was Carlos Brathwaite. In contrast to Samuels, he's one West Indies player who did OK in that Test series against Australia. But he did more than OK on Sunday night. Boy, did he do more than OK.

Chasing England's 9 for 155, the West Indies started badly and had a stuttering sort of innings. They needed 19 off the last over. Wild horses couldn't stop Brathwaite. He clubbed four straight sixes off the bowling of Ben Stokes to end the match and tournament in the most emphatic and spectacular fashion. Wow.

The win makes the West Indies the first team to win this biennial tournament twice. It was a double-up too, after the West Indies women's team had earlier beaten Australia's Southern Stars in the women's World T20 final, denying us what would have been a fourth straight title. Oh well, at least our women got that far.

In the AFL, it was the weekend when nothing made sense. The Gold Coast Suns beat Freo in Freo. After beating the Hawks in round one, you thought the Cats would have it easy against the Giants, who last week lost to the lowly Demons. Nope. The Giants got em. But not before Cat Tom Hawkins engineered this ridiculous piece of ridiculousness.

Meanwhile Hawthorn showed that they're still eight goals better than West Coast, prompting West Coast coach Adam Simpson to say his team might be "scarred". And if you missed Collingwood's one point win on Friday night, it's worth watching the highlights, even if to remind us all the game was about more than a disgusting banner.

Leicester is now seven points clear on the EPL ladder with six games to go. We repeat. A team you'd never heard of until this season is now extremely likely to win the competition which most years is one by one of the same three or four teams. It's their fourth 1-0 victory in a row, but hey, you only need one goal.

And if you thought you had a bad weekend, you didn't. You had a good weekend because this didn't happen to you.

Roger Tuivasa-Sheck is apparently a ghost. That's the only conclusion you can draw after just about every media outlet is today reporting that the NRL star "came back to haunt" the Sydney Roosters. The deal is this. He's the star fullback the Roosters lost to the Warriors this season. And wouldn't you know it, he was the man who scored the winning try for the Warriors against the Roosters in golden point extra time on Sunday. The Roosters remain winless.

Another highlight of the NRL round was the Panthers' victory after the siren against the Eels. The winning try was good. The winning celebration was even better.

This is nice. It's actually a little awkward but it's still nice. It's U.S. vice president Joe Biden offering a few kind words to a disconsolate college basketball team who fell in the semi finals of the "Final Four" tournament. Why isn't this guy running for POTUS again?
