There is something distinctly magic about Roald Dahl’s children’s books -- his beloved The BFG no exception -- and this July, director Steven Spielberg will bring the grotesquely lovable giant to life in a film adaptation of the 1982 book.
On Wednesday, Disney released a trailer for the highly-anticipated film, providing us with a slither (just over two minutes) of the dark, enchanting adventure that follows 10-year old protagonist, Sophie into Giant Country.
The Giant, played by Mark Rylance, is almost identical to Quentin Blake’s original illustration which inspired the animated film released in 1989.
Spielberg famously turned down the top job of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series way back when, but if this trailer is anything to go by it appears the director is bringing all of the magic.
The script is written by Melissa Mathison, who worked with Spielberg on “E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial” so basically, if there's one thing we're sure of, this movie ain’t gobblefunking around.
