Prince, who has been sick with the flu since at least last week, was rushed to a hospital Friday after his private plane made an emergency landing in Illinois. He returned home after treatment and was "fine," a representative said.

Prince's jet landed at Quad City International Airport in Moline, Illinois, around 1 a.m. local time, according to TMZ, which was first to report the news.

The 57-year-old entertainer, born Prince Rogers Nelson, performed two shows in Atlanta on Thursday night as part of his "Piano & A Microphone" tour. The concerts, originally scheduled for last week, were postponed due to the singer's illness.

A representative for Prince told TMZ that the singer was still ailing during Thursday's shows and began feeling worse during the plane ride. After the unplanned landing, he was treated at a hospital and was released three hours later.

The singer was "fine" and resting at home, his rep told Entertainment Weekly later on Friday.

HuffPost's efforts to reach Prince's publicist were unsuccessful.

In a 2009 interview with Tavis Smiley, Prince revealed that he struggled with epilepsy as a child. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician has been plagued by hip problems for years, but has rejected surgery on account of his Jehovah's Witness faith.

Prince often performs with a cane, as he did in Atlanta on Thursday night, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
