You can't see it, but you can certainly feel it.

It might be a tight sensation in your chest, sleepless nights, feeling frustrated or a racing heart.

By now we know that stress is very bad for our health, and can even bring out diseases such as heart disease.

A study conducted by the American Psychological Association revealed that a whopping 72 percent of Americans are stressed about money, and not surprising, Aussie's feel the same.

While life can't always be a walk in the park (and money trees don't yet exist, dammit), we need to learn how to employ techniques to help deal with stress as it happens, and minimise it in the future.

Deep breathing has been proven to help manage stress-related symptoms, lowering the heart rate, balancing levels of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the blood and helping to increase feelings of calm and wellbeing.

Exercise stimulates the production of endorphins. Endorphins are chemicals made the the brain which are responsible for the feeling euphoria. More endorphins = more happy.

Physical touch can help you feel happier. Hugging increases levels of the hormone oxytocin, which is known as the love hormone. One study found that women had lower blood pressure following a brief episode of warm contact with their partner.
