Dami Im Hot Favourite For Eurovision

The great Aussie hope is one of the acts tipped to take out the Euro song contest.

Momentum is building behind Australia's Dami Im as the singer heads into the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest

Im will go into the final as one of the hot faves, with the top contenders from Russia and Ukraine set to split the eastern bloc vote.

The three nations are said to be firming up as the competition's front runners, but it's unclear how Im will fare given many European countries tend to score contestants along political lines.

Im is the second Australian to compete in the wildly-popular singing competion that this year is being held in Sweden.

Im, whose track has Sound Of Silence has so far been warmly received, follows in Guy Sebastian's footsteps. He was the first Aussie to perform at Eurovision.

The voting method asks the public to vote for their favourite songs in the semi-final that their country competes in and the grand final, making up 50 percent of the total vote.

The other 50 percent is decided by the National Jury assembled in each participating country.

Australia and 19 other second semi-finalists – Latvia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia, Poland, Israel, Lithuania, Belgium, Hungary, Croatia, the Netherlands, Armenia, Russia, Czech Republic, Austria, Azerbaijan, Cyprus and Malta – are part of this weekend's final.
