Comedian's Horribly Sexist Reaction To Woman Who Politely Rejected Him

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh.
Twitter

Comedian Mike Faverman just went viral for all the wrong reasons.

On May 11, Twitter user Heather Rae posted a screenshot of a text message conversation between the LA-based comedian and an anonymous woman. (The Huffington Post reached out to Rae, but was unable to verify where she initially discovered the texts.) In the text exchange, Faverman asks the woman if she'd like to go out to dinner, to which she politely responds: "I'm sorry if [I] gave you the impression that I wanted to date you by becoming your FB friend... That wasn't my intention."

And that's when things went downhill... big time.

Instead of accepting that the woman simply did not want to go to dinner with him, Faverman went on a sexist, fat-shaming rant.

"You have to remember I met you," Faverman responded. "So I know you're not out of my league in the least, please stop acting as if I wouldn't have a chance. Although I do have a thing for big woman [sic]."

Twitter user Jeremy Burke was the first to post the full text message conversation between Faverman and the anonymous woman to Twitter on May 12. Burke tweeted that he posted the screenshots after seeing them circulating on his Facebook newsfeed.

Read the full transcript of the text message conversation below:

Mike Faverman: When am I taking you to dinner?

Anonymous Woman: I'm sorry if [I] gave you the impression that I wanted to date you by becoming your FB friend... That wasn't my intention.

MF:It wasn't I just wanted to see if you would like to have dinner.

You have to remember I met you. So I know you're not out of my league in the least, please stop acting as if I wouldn't have a chance. Although I do have a thing for big woman [sic].

I hope me asking you to dinner doesn't give you any impression that you are more attractive than you think you are. You just seem like an easy target with potential low self esteem. I also know fat chicks give good blow jobs and are easy to push to the curb when you're done with them.

A plump chick with high self esteem is like a unicorn out here. It's kinda refreshing and sad at the same time. You must be very lonely and you must cry often. It explains why you are cushy and bitter. When a nice guy asks you out sometime, try to be polite and cordial, being an angry cunt is not the way to go through life. You should be happy people are asking you out at all still, seeing in 5 years with that dumpy ass no one will give a shit. Best of luck, hope I didn't give you the wrong impression that you were hot just because I asked you to dinner, PIG.

Please take a moment to let all of the above awful bullsh*t sink in.

(The Huffington Post reached out to Faverman but had not heard back at the time of publication. )

The Internet reacted accordingly, with many calling Faverman out on Twitter, Imgur and Facebook. Some comedians and celebrities even asked that LA comedy venues stop booking him.

Westside Comedy, a Santa Monica, Calif. comedy venue, tweeted that they banned Faverman from performing at their venue.

According to Mic, Faverman replied to the backlash on Twitter, tweeting that he was surprised no one was upset with the anonymous woman for posting his private messages on a public forum. Faverman has since deleted his Twitter account.

On May 14, an Imgur user posted a screenshot of Faverman attempting to apologize in a conversation in a Facebook comments section. One of the participants confirmed to HuffPost that the Facebook conversation below did take place.

In response to many angry Facebook users calling him out, Faverman took responsibility for his actions, and wrote: "I hope you understand that I made a mistake and I'm trying to rectify the situation. I know what I did was wrong and I'm trying to figure out the right way to let people know that I was wrong and I want to make this right."

Faverman's comments are an unfortunate example of why women often feel nervous to refuse men's advances. Let's hope the comedian has learned from his mistake.
