Food for thought: A plastic-wrapped, chicken flavor Nissin Top Ramen contains around 380 calories, 14 grams of fat and 1,820 mg of sodium.

The FDA recommends the average American consumes no more than 2,300 mg of sodium per day, so a package contains more than half of that.

And then there's a whole new world when it comes to restaurant ramen. The Star analyzed Momofuku Toronto’s signature ramen bowl to find it contains 1,241 calories, 69 grams of fat and 2,858 mg of sodium. Yow.
