Jarryd Hayne Underwhelms For Fiji In Sevens Debut

Former NRL superstar and NFL convert Jarryd Hayne has made an uninspiring debut in international rugby sevens for Fiji.

Hayne played minutes in three games at the London Sevens over the weekend, but the former Parramatta Eels player was starved of opportunities as he looks to force his way into the squad for the Rio Olympics.

The code hopper played four-and-a-half minutes in the team's loss against England, had less time against Wales, and then came on in the last minute against Australia.

Having just made the switch from NFL to sevens, Hayne is struggling with his fitness, with Fiji coach Ben Ryan indicating Hayne will face an uphill battle to realise his Rio Olympics dream.

Fiji has made the quarter finals at London, doing enough to secure the crown as world champions for 2016 -- their second consecutive year as winners.

Australia fared less well, beating Wales before narrowly losing out to hosts England and then getting thumped 26-0 by Fiji.

Hayne told reporters he was still getting acquainted with the game.

"Obviously it's a lot faster and quicker. Still getting used to it. Still learning," he said.

"The guys know their stuff and, you know, the system that Ben has appointed for a couple of years, the boys have been a sponge."
