Idris Elba as the next 007 agent? Quite the opposite, in fact.

According to the Internet the world is ready for a different kind of Bond and something tells us "M" would very much approve: a woman, in the form of Gillian Anderson.

As speculation mounts over who will replace Daniel Craig, a fan-driven campaign calling for Anderson to be his female replacement gained traction when the "X-Files" star tweeted a poster imagining her in the role of Bond.

Addressing it later during a Tumblr Q&A, Anderson said the fan-made poster which has more than 20,000 "likes" had started an intriguing conversation.

"Will it ever happen in the real world? More than probably not," Anderson wrote.

It's not the first time the question of a female 007 agent has been raised.

In an interview with Complex magazine, Quantico star Priyanka Chopra was asked about playing a future Bond girl.

"I get that all the time," she said. "But f--- that -- I wanna be Bond," Chopra said.

Meanwhile GoldenEye diehards have been throwing support behind a handful actors to replace Daniel Craig including Elba and Tom Hiddleston.

"If it should happen, that's proof there's connectivity amongst human beings. If everyone wants something, they can make it happen. That would be true," Elba told Variety.

All we can say is, RIP Pussy Galore.
