Johnny Depp Thinks Barnaby Joyce Looks 'In Bred With A Tomato'

'It's not a criticism. I'm just worried he might explode.'

The "Pistol and Boo" saga took a fruity turn on Monday night as Johnny Depp took a swipe at Australia's deputy prime minister, Barnaby Joyce saying he looked like he was "inbred with a tomato" during an interview with American talk show host, Jimmy Kimmel.

Depp and his wife Amber Heard recorded a rather unconvincing apology after breaching Australia's biosecurity laws in 2015. The video attracted worldwide media attention with some joking it was Depp's "best performance ever".

Referring to Joyce as Barnaby "Jones" the 52-year-old actor explained how the former agricultural minister gave his "teacup yorkies" just 50 hours to live, threatening to euthanise them if they remained in the country.

Depp, who was on the talk show to promote his latest film "Alice Through the Looking Glass" said the "inbred tomato" label wasn't a criticism.

"I'm just worried," Depp said.

"That he may be crossbred?" Kimmel asked.

"No, just, he might explode," Depp said.

Meanwhile back in Oz, the deputy prime minister hit back at Depp in between announcing immediate assistance for Australian dairy farmers on Tuesday morning.

"I'm turning into his Hannibal Lecter", Joyce told ABC reporter Stephen Dziedzic.

Proving the war of words is far from over, Joyce even went to the effort of retweeting his comments.

"I'm inside his head, pulling little strings and levers -- long after I've forgotten about him, he's remembering me," Joyce said.

So there you have it, #Doggate has officially become a weird, cannibalistic slash tomato scrap amongst middle-aged men.
