Martin Scorsese Fans, You Might Want To Get To Melbourne

Pretty much everyone has their favourite Scorsese movie. After all, with over 60 director credits spanning almost as many years, there are certainly plenty to choose from. (Though we're betting nearly everyone falls into either Camp DeNiro or Team DiCaprio... but that's a whole other kettle of fish.)

On Rotten Tomatoes, Scorsese's highest certified rating film is the 1976 'Taxi Driver' with a whopping 99 percent approval rating, and while nobody will ever forget the infamous line 'are you talkin' to me?', Team Leo more recent fans might revel in some of his later work, 'The Wolf of Wall Street', for example.

Either way, there's no denying Scorsese has a rich and diverse film-making career, and with it, a rich and diverse legion of fans.

As such, Melbourne's Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI) is launching SCORSESE: "the first exhibition celebrating the indelible cinematic legacy of the prolific and passionate auteur".

It will explore the breadth of his work from its "early experimental beginnings" through to the iconic award-winning titles we're all so familiar with.

In other words, Scorcese nerds, you might want to get yourselves to Melbourne, because it's the exhibition's only Australian stop.

Curated by the Deutsche Kinemathek - Museum for Film and Television in Berlin, SCORSESE will feature 600 objects including "storyboards, hand annotated film scripts, unpublished production stills, costumes, film clips and more" -- some of which are from the private collections of Robert DeNiro and Scorsese himself.

Exclusive to Melbourne are five never before seen costumes from films such as 'The Aviator', 'Hugo' and 'Gangs of New York', all designed by three-time Academy Award® winner, Sandy Powell.
