They're called willy willys, waterspouts and tiny twisters, but there's nothing small about this stormy sight filmed off a beach in the Northern Territory.
It seems appropriate that footage of this raw, powerful phenomena was captured on Dundee Beach, which was named, we fervently hope, after Australia's own force of nature, Crocodile Dundee.

Local Becky Myers told The NT News she spotted the waterspout while fishing.
"It was just so weird because it's not what you get at this time of year," Myers told The NT News.
Waterspouts are formed when a whirlwind stirs up a column of water and spray, drawing water up towards a bank of clouds. They often quickly dissipate once they hit land.
