Social media has gone into overdrive as NSW cops some of the worst weather in recent memory, with a severe east coast low cutting a path of destruction across the state.
The impact of the huge storm system has been widespread as it moves south and many people have used Twitter to capture the hectic effects of the deluge.
Some of the worst impacted areas have been in the north of the state and in Sydney where the most intense part of the storm is currently wreaking havoc.
The SES says reports have come in of fallen trees, cars stuck in flood water, damaged roofs and debris blocking roads.
The SES has fielded more than 5000 calls for help from storm affected residents.
Around 2500 houses across the state are without power and about 500 people have been evacuated at Lismore and Narabeen.
Around 100 flood rescues have taken place over the past 48 hours.
Emergency services are urging those in impacted areas to stay indoors.
