While the number of divorces in Australia is decreasing (maybe true love really does exist!), having an anniversary is always reason for celebration.
The first year means you've accomplished 365 days of holy matrimony and with that comes the gift of paper. Your beloved might not jump for joy over a ream of white Fuju Xerox A4, but there are fun ways you can get creative. Write them a series of love notes or clues leading to a bigger gift, or consider art in the form of a limited edition print. Foreign currency or plane tickets are also a fun way to announce an adventure you've booked.
Strangely, the 6th year is celebrated with sugar and iron. Your partner's favourite sweet treat is an obvious choice (or maybe Sarah Wilson's I Quit Sugar cookbook if they are on a health kick). Gift a clothes iron at your own risk, or interpret iron as metal and head off to a rock concert.
20 years together means it's time for china! If you've accumulated enough crockery over the years to host a tea party for the Mad Hatter, consider going to the country instead. If you don't want to travel, a nice Asian meal out could be the trick.
