Mother Shares Heartbreaking Pictures Of Chickenpox Infected Bub

And she has a message for the anti-vaccination brigade.

A Brisbane mother has shared shocking images of her baby infected with chickenpox, saying the pictures show "exactly why" parents should have their children vaccinated.

The bub, who is too young to be vaccinated for chickenpox, was admitted to Ipswich hospital on Thursday after suffering a secondary infection after contracting the infectious disease.

"Bottom line if you don't vaccinate your kids you're a bloody idiot," his mother, Kayley Burke, wrote on Facebook.

"Think about the risk you are putting on other helpless kids that are too young or who actually can't be vaccinated."

Burke herself has adult chickenpox, which she describes as "so horrible and painful I would much rather give birth with no pain relief".

The post, uploaded on Thursday, has been shared more than 30,000 times.

The Huffington Post Australia has reached out to Burke for comment.

Ninety-three percent of Australian children were fully immunised by the time they turned three as of December 31 2015, according to the Australian Department of Human Services.

The minimum recommended age for a Varicella, or chickenpox, vaccine is 12 months.

Despite an overwhelming tide of evidence against the anti-vax movement, it has continued to persist.

Last year the Australian government adopted a "no jab, no pay" policy to block parents who refuse to vaccinate their children from accessing some government benefits.
