What else can go wrong for the Parramatta Eels in 2016?

Star winger and recently selected Australian rugby league representative player Semi Radradra has walked out on the club, boarded a plane to Fiji and is on his way to France to play rugby union for Bordeaux.

In a move that brings back memories of Sonny Bill Williams in 2008, Radradra has reportedly told the Eels he has no interest in playing for them any longer and will not be coming back from France to play for them despite having a year left on his contract, according to Channel 9 News.

Parramatta have released a statement saying that Radradra has been granted leave to visit family in Fiji and gave no indication that he would not be available to play in 2017, according to The Advertiser.

"The Parramatta Eels can confirm that Semi Radradra has been granted permission to return to Fiji for a short family visit during the bye round," the statement read.

"Semi Radradra is contracted to play for the Parramatta Eels until the end of the 2017 season, and has given no indication that the contract will not be honoured."

"He is expected to return to Sydney in time to prepare for the club's next NRL game against Cronulla.

To make things worse, Radradra was only picked for the Australian national rugby league team less than a month ago - a decision that was not a favourite of some big names in the game, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The move follows a spate of bad luck for the club that can't find a happy news story so far this year after being fined $1 million and docked competition points due to salary cap breaches, and the ruling out of another star playmaker, Kieran Foran with a shoulder injury.

More to come.
