Forget Above Or Below The Line, Voters Want To Get To The Front

There are early bird waits at polling stations around Australia.
More time in line, more time to ponder the Senate ballot.

More time in line, more time to ponder the Senate ballot.

Despite the fact that a whopping 2.98 million people already voted early in this year's Federal Election, morning lines at polling stations are stretching almost as long as the campaign.

After a record eight weeks of election campaign policies and promises, gaffes and blunders, voters are enduring waits of up to 45 minutes to cast their vote in places like Annandale in Sydney.

At least there's a sausage (and the sweet taste of democracy) at the end, though in Penrith, the queue for a snag was longer than the line to vote.

You can cast your vote up until 6pm today. To find out where to vote near you, type your postcode into the Australian Electoral Committee website.
