Everyone Lost It When Brie Larson Was Announced As Captain Marvel

Understandable.

She’s the captain now.

It’s already been rumored, but Marvel made the news official at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday: Brie Larson is your new Captain Marvel.

Call me Captain Marvel.

Right before a photo was taken with tons of actors from the Marvel fam, studio President Kevin Feige made the announcement:

“You know what we should do? If we’re actually going to do a big Marvel family photo, we should introduce the newest member of the Marvel family. The newest person joining us: Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson!”

Understandably, everyone lost it:

Larson plays Carol Danvers in the upcoming “Captain Marvel” movie. In the comics, Danvers is a member of the Air Force who gets superpowers after an explosion causes her genes to meld with alien genes. (You know, typical stuff.)

Captain Marvel is seen as a feminist icon and was a coveted Marvel role. Pro fighter Ronda Rousey even campaigned to get the spot.

This is all about Larson, though. Congrats to the newest member of the Marvel family.

I did way better catching @marvel characters than Pokemon today. Thank you for an INCREDIBLE time #HallH!!!
