Former investment banker Steven Mnuchin was named in a list of the candidates’ all-male economic advisory team the campaign released on Friday, reports Politico.
Mnuchin has had his hands in many big-budget film projects over the years, like “Batman v Superman” and “Mad Max,” working alongside producing partners Brett Ratner and the future Mr. Mariah Carey, billionaire James Packer, through their film financing company RatPac-Dune Entertainment.
Appointed as the campaign’s national finance chairman in May, Mnuchin was praised by Trump for his “extensive and very successful financial background.”
“He brings unprecedented experience and expertise to a fundraising operation that will benefit the Republican Party and ultimately defeat Hillary Clinton,” Trump said in a statement.
Mnuchin seemed equally pleased with the pairing, describing working under Trump as “a great privilege” and expressing his enthusiasm for supporting the campaign in the general election.
And in a notoriously liberal industry, the financier appears to have no qualms about expressing his political beliefs, even on the red carpet.
“You’d be surprised how many secret Republicans there are in Hollywood,” Mnuchin told Showbiz411 at the “Suicide Squad” premiere. “It’s a unique time for an outsider to come to Washington and make a difference.”
That sentiment might just be scarier than anything Hollywood could make up on the big screen.
