A series of tweets from Blake Sheltonâs past have come back to haunt him this week. Shared by the Twitter account @MusicFactsTea, the tweets in question paint a very different picture than what we typically see of the fun-loving, down-home country crooner that makes you cringe weekly on âThe Voice.â
It would be easy to call Sheltonâs tweets homophobic, misogynist and downright offensive (is anyone surprised?), but what troubles us most is that he actually thinks heâs funny.
In the wise words of his girlfriend Gwen Stefani, this shit is truly B-A-N-A-N-A-S.
âGrown men who wear Chuck Taylorâs may as well write on their fore head âCucumbers turn me on!!!ââ Shelton allegedly tweeted in June 2010.
A year later he also shared this gem with the world about a man who DARED order a skinny caramel latte in Sheltonâs hetero presence.
âStanding in line at a coffee shop in LA talking with the man in front of me,â he reportedly tweeted. âHe orders a skinny caramel latte. I couldnât tell he was gay!!!â
If the tweets are authentic, Shelton didnât reserve his hilarious commentary just for suspected gay people. No, he also felt the needed to label women as âbitchesâ and liken them to zoo animals. In one tweet, a quote was shared that likens âpicking up bitches in a barâ to âhunting deer in a zoo.â
Did you think we were done? Because Shelton wasnât when he discovered that his shuttle bus driver âcanât speak a FUCKING word of Englishâ in 2010 or when he wished that he could understand the âdickhead in the next roomâ was saying so he could know what heâs âplanning to bomb.â
On Wednesday, Shelton released a Twitter statement about his past tweets, apologizing for his brand of âcomedy.â
Is anyone laughing?
The Huffington Post has reached out to Sheltonâs representatives and will update the post accordingly.
