Karl Lagerfeld Teams Up With Faber-Castell To Release Art Kit

Weapons of mass (luxury) creation.

Whether you know him for his signature white ponytail or as the creative director of Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld is adding another notch to his visionary belt with his own collection of watercolour pencils and art tools.

In collaboration with Faber-Castell, Lagerfeld has designed the "KARLBOX" made of black stained beech wood with 350 immaculately presented art materials inside (coordinated by colour, naturally).

Retailing at $4,000 and featuring the pyramid design DNA of the iconic designer's brand, the limited edition tool kit is for those who take their art as seriously as Lagerfeld takes his personal brand.

The limited edition KARLBOX includes colour pencils, graphite pencils and crayons, pastels, India ink pens and accessories.

The man's reputation for unparalleled luxury is probably why only 2,500 boxes were produced worldwide.

While some may gawk at the price tag, to borrow an old saying, art is madness after all. Plus, the same could be said about the handbag habits of some. Cost per wear, right?

This marks the first collaboration of it's kind for Lagerfeld, whose relationship with Faber-Castell dates back to 1987 when he created a bridal gown for Count Anton Wolfgang von Faber-Castell's wife, Mary.

In Australia, the "KARLBOX" will be sold exclusively at David Jones online and in-store at Elizabeth Street, Sydney from September 19.
