Awe-inspiring visual effects have always been a major part of the “Star Wars” franchise, and December’s “The Force Awakens” was no exception.
Throughout the years, the franchise has used some of the best technologies available to turn the fictional galaxy far, far away into an onscreen reality. There are scenes in the films created entirely using computer-generated imagery (CGI); each installment seems more and more realistic.
On Tuesday, the masterminds at Industrial Light & Magic released a visual effects reel from “The Force Awakens,” giving us a glimpse at all the work that went into bringing Jakku ― and all the other planets in the movie ― to life.
