What's better than a 10-hour drive, a group of die-hard footy fans and the hope of another AFL Grand Final berth? A free breakfast.

Whether you're from Sydney or Melbourne, Perth or Adelaide, there's something about September and finals footy that brings the good out in people everywhere.

And the Western Bulldogs have stuck to fine form on the road from Melbourne to Spotless Stadium in Sydney's western suburbs for their clash against the GWS Giants on Saturday.

Western Bulldogs senior coach Luke Beveridge greeted members and supporters of the club who boarded a fan's bus en-route to New South Wales with a letter to express his gratitude complete with a $10 note and the promise of a free breakfast in the city of Wodonga on the Victoria-New South Wales border.

"Thank you for jumping on board the Bulldogs Bus to cheer on our boys in Sydney," the letter reads.

"As a small thank you for your efforts, we would like to pay for your breakfast this morning. The City of Wodonga have put on some great food vans so get out, stretch the legs and have a safe drive."

The preliminary final between the Western Bulldogs and the Greater Western Sydney Giants kicks off at 5:15PM AEST with both sides looking to progress to next weekend's final against the Sydney Swans who booked their ticket on Friday.
