Three men have been rushed to hospital after a dramatic crane collapse in Sydney.
The incident took place on top of a 20-floor Meriton skyscraper on Sydney's lower north shore about 11.30am Sunday, stranding the workers a terrifying 60 metres from the ground.
Police said the crane malfunctioned, collapsed and hit a concrete wall.
"About 11.30am they were in the process of deconstructing the crane," NSW Fire and Rescue Superintendent Adam Dewberry told Fairfax Media.
"Something happened that caused the collapse on the boom which resulted in it falling some distance."
The men -- aged 24, 28 and 36 -- were attached to the crane by safety harnesses when the incident occurred and were left dangling until managing to free themselves.
The 24-year-old man managed to scramble to the roof, with the others assisted by workers at the scene.
Afterwards, construction workers managed to lower a metal box using a second crane to assist the two trapped men who were then lowered to the ground.
The workers all suffered non-life threatening injuries in the incident. Police said engineers would attend and assess the site.
